 about the project

In South Staffordshire we provide a generic service for anyone with a disability living in the SSHA area. Although generic in nature, the service is dominated mainly by referrals for people with learning disabilities or mental health needs. The work varies enormously but will include people wanting support with a doctor's meeting, requiring help and representation at reviews, wanting to make complaints against services, help with accommodation issues, liaising with relatives and carers and support in community care plans and care programme approaches.

The generic part of the project is split into three areas and supplies a paid advocate covering each area. Additionally, there is a paid advocate covering the SE part of the area who specialises in Mental Health issues.

The generic project also offers advocacy to those affected by the Staffordshire Changing Lives Programme.
